What are classified ads?

Classified ads are small adverts no more than three or four lines long. In the offline world these would be placed in the classified sections of magazines or newspapers.

In the online world, these ads are placed in special classified ad sites and sometimes in ezines (this is covered in more detail in Ezine Ads).

Because classified ads are so small, you must get your message across in as few words as possible and get the reader to click a link which takes them to either your autoresponder page or your sales page.

How effective are classified ads?

The results from submitting classified ads to ezines can be very effective.

The results from posting to classified ads websites depends on the type of classified ad site. Some sites allow Automatic submission of thousands of classified ads in a very short space of time.

On these sites, your classified ads will only be on the website for a matter of hours before they are "pushed out" by the submission of new classified ads.

The most effective way to get any traffic from the few classified ads sites that are still visited by "real people" is to advertise an autoresponder series.

To do this you will need an autoresponder which has been loaded with an "educational" series of emails.

You then advertise this educational course by writing and submitting classified ads.

Are there any tips for writing classified ads?

Because you have only a few short lines in which to get your reader to respond, a classified ad must contain:

  • A heading which includes a major benefit. In other words, in as few words as possible, explain how your reader will benefit from reading your classified ad.
  • In as few words as possible explain one major benefit and how your reader will benefit from responding to your classified ad.
  • Your primary objective is to get your reader to click on a link to your web page, so ask them to click on the link.
  • Always use a re-direct for your link to the web page you are advertising.
  • If you include your name and a contact e-mail address at the end of the ad, use a secondary e-mail address and never your ISP e-mail address. You are going to receive loads of spam to this address as well as mail from prospective clients...

    But people who correspond with you are the BEST leads you will ever get. Make sure you look after them.

What are the best classified ads sites?

Automatic submission programs have diluted the effects of posting to most classified ads web sites, so you need to post to hundreds of sites.

Fortunately there are a few classified ad sites which will not accept automated submissions. Some have strict rules and as a result can be quite effective for promoting your site.
